Hi Steve. There are many, many resources out there. A great place to start is the website jewishgen.org. I have a paid subscription to ancestry.com but many libraries have a free version available to patrons. There’s also familysearch.org, which is totally free.
It also depends where your ancestors are from. Many of mine are from Poland (although it’s now Ukraine.) For that, the site JRI-Poland.org has many original vital records, indexed in English.
